Usenet Wire is a free newsreader included with your Newshosting account that provides a straightforward way to access Usenet on Linux. Follow these steps to complete the installation:
Step 1: Obtain the Installer
Log in to your Newshosting control panel and download the 64-bit or 32-bit Linux installer for Usenet Wire, depending on your system.
Note: Usenet Wire is available for both 64-bit and 32-bit Linux systems. Make sure you download the installer that matches your system architecture.
Step 2: Open a Terminal and Navigate to the Installer
Launch a terminal and change to the directory where the installer is located. If it was saved in the default 'Downloads' directory, use:
cd ~/Downloads/
Step 3: Adjust Installer Permissions
Before running the installer, modify its permissions to allow execution:
chmod +x usenetwire_x64_installer.run
If you're using the 32-bit installer, replace "usenetwire_x64_installer.run" in the commands with the exact filename of the 32-bit installer.
Step 4: Run the Installer
Execute the installer by entering:
./usenetwire_x64_installer.run
The setup wizard will appear, guiding you through the installation process.
Step 5: Launch Usenet Wire
Once installation is complete, launch Usenet Wire from your applications menu or desktop shortcut.
