Adjusting Firewalls and Antivirus for SABnzbd

SABnzbd requires certain network and security settings to function properly. If your system uses a firewall or antivirus software, it may interfere with SABnzbd's ability to connect to your Usenet provider or Web interface.

Recommended Steps

  1. Allow SABnzbd in the Firewall:
Open your firewall settings and permit both inbound and outbound connections for SABnzbd. Make sure port 8080 (or your custom SABnzbd port) is not blocked.

  2. Exclude SABnzbd in Antivirus Software:
Add SABnzbd's installation folder to your antivirus exclusion list. This prevents performance issues or false alerts during active sessions.

  3. Check for Conflicting Software:
Security tools with Web filtering, such as parental controls or Internet protection suites, may block SABnzbd traffic. Review those settings and allow SABnzbd access.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If SABnzbd cannot connect to the Internet or your Usenet provider, temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software to test for interference.

  • Restart SABnzbd after making any changes.
