How to Back Up and Restore SABnzbd Settings

Backing up your SABnzbd configuration helps retain your custom settings, including server access, queue data, and preferences. This guide outlines how to save and reload those settings in case of reinstallation or migration to a different system.

Backing Up Your SABnzbd Settings

  1. Locate the Configuration Directory
SABnzbd stores settings in a directory that varies by operating system:

    • Linux: ~/.sabnzbd

    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd

    • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\sabnzbd

  2. Close SABnzbd
Before copying any settings, make sure SABnzbd is not running to prevent incomplete or corrupted data.

  3. Copy the Configuration Folder
Make a copy of the entire folder listed above. This includes settings, queue information, and user preferences. Save it to a separate location such as a USB drive or external storage directory.

Restoring Your SABnzbd Settings

  1. Install SABnzbd
Begin by installing SABnzbd on your new or reset system. Make sure the application is not running during restoration.

  2. Replace the Configuration Folder
Navigate to the appropriate configuration directory for your operating system, as listed in the backup section. Replace the folder in that location with the one you previously saved.

  3. Launch SABnzbd
Open SABnzbd. Your previous configuration, including server access through Newshosting and queue details, should now be restored automatically.

Additional Notes

  • Server credentials may be revalidated upon first launch.

  • If moving between operating systems, some paths or permissions may need manual adjustment.

  • For added security, consider encrypting your backup directory.
