Why the Newsreader Is Asking for Your Username and Password

When launching the Newshosting Newsreader for the first time, a login prompt will appear. This is expected behavior. The newsreader is preconfigured to work specifically with Newshosting accounts, and it requires your login credentials to access Usenet servers.

How to Respond to the Prompt

Enter the same username and password that you use to sign in to the Newshosting website. These credentials authenticate your access to the Newshosting Usenet service, including the most complete access to all supported newsgroups and article retention.

Why This Prompt Appears

Because the newsreader is tailored to Newshosting, there's no need for manual server setup. Instead, it prompts for your login to immediately connect with the appropriate Usenet servers.

Having Trouble Logging In?

If you're receiving an error after entering your username and password:

  • Double-check for typos or extra spaces

  • Make sure your subscription is active

  • Visit the Newshosting website to test your login
