Newshosting Support: Error 10060 - Server Not Found
If your newsreader displays a "10060 - Server Not Found" error when trying to connect, it usually means the connection to Newshosting's Usenet server timed out. This can happen for a few different reasons. Here's how to troubleshoot the issue.
1. Check Your Server Address
Make sure the server address is entered correctly in your newsreader. Newshosting's main server address is:
news.newshosting.com
This address automatically connects you to the fastest server available for your location. Avoid using outdated or discontinued server names.
2. Test Your Internet Connection
A weak or interrupted Internet connection may prevent your newsreader from reaching Newshosting’s servers. Try loading a few Web pages or running a speed test to verify your connection is working properly.
3. Try a Different Port
Your Internet provider might be blocking the port you're using. Newshosting supports several ports for both SSL and non-SSL connections:
SSL Ports: 563, 443
Non-SSL Ports: 119, 23, 80, 2000, 8080, 9000
If you’re using SSL and the connection fails on port 563, try switching to port 443.
4. Disable VPN or Firewall Temporarily
Sometimes, a VPN or firewall can block traffic to Usenet servers. If you're using a VPN, try turning it off temporarily to see if the error clears. Likewise, check any firewall or antivirus software to confirm it’s not blocking your newsreader.
5. Reboot Your Router and Device
Restarting your device and router can refresh your connection and clear up local network issues.
6. Try Connecting on a Different Network
If none of the above steps help, try connecting from another network (like a mobile hotspot) to see if the issue is related to your Internet provider.
If you're still seeing the error after checking all of the above, feel free to contact Newshosting Support for further help.
