Why You're Seeing a 423 or 430 Error
If your newsreader returns a "423 No Such Article" or "430 No Such Article" message when trying to access an article on Newshosting, the article may no longer be available on our servers.
These errors typically happen for one of two reasons:
-
The article is older than our current article retention.
Each Usenet provider stores articles for a set number of days. Once that time passes, older articles are removed from the servers. If an Indexer points to an article that has expired from our system, you may see a 423 or 430 error.Newshosting has the most article retention of any Usenet provider in the world and adds one day to that retention every day. This means that no article ever expires from our servers due to time limits.
-
The article was removed.
Occasionally, an article might be removed due to legal takedown requests or propagation issues across Usenet servers.
How to Avoid These Errors
-
Check Article Age: Make sure the article is still within Newshosting’s article retention window. You can find our current article retention listed on our website.
-
Search by Subject or Keywords: If the specific article is unavailable, consider searching for similar articles through your Indexer or the Newshosting newsreader.
-
Try a Different Indexer: Some Indexers may list articles that no longer exist on the Usenet servers they reference. Using an updated Indexer can help reduce the frequency of these errors.
