Adding Additional Servers in NewsLeecher

Expanding Your Server List in NewsLeecher

NewsLeecher supports configuring multiple servers, which is useful for maximizing access across different Usenet providers. Each server can be set up with custom priorities, allowing you to choose which provider NewsLeecher uses first.

Step-by-Step: Add a New Server

  1. Open NewsLeecher and click the Manager tab.

  2. Click the Add Server button.

  • In the Choose a Server Nickname field, enter a name that helps identify the server.
  • In the Server Address field, input the hostname provided by your additional Usenet provider (e.g., "news.us.example.com").

  • Click the Use Encrypted Server Connections (SSL) checkbox. When prompted, click Yes to automatically set the port to 563.

  • Click the Server Requires Login checkbox to make the Username and Password fields active.

  • Input the Username and Password for the provider.

  • Check the box for Show Advanced Settings to reveal the Download Priority, manual Port field, and Bots dropdown menu.

  • Set the Download Priority level. Lower numbers have higher priority.

  • Use the Bots dropdown to choose the number of connections the server should use.

  • Click OK to save the new server.
