Managing Server Connections in Newsbin

Setting up Newsbin with Newshosting involves adding your server information and managing server priority to optimize Usenet access. This guide outlines both steps clearly.

How to Add a Newshosting Server in Newsbin

  1. Launch Newsbin.

  2. Go to Options > Servers.

  1. Click New Server.

  1. Enter a name like "Newshosting".

  1. Fill in your server address (e.g., news.newshosting.com), port (563 for SSL), and your username/password.

  2. Enable SSL and set the maximum number of connections based on your Newshosting plan.

  3. Click OK to save.

Adjusting Server Priority

  1. In Options > Servers, you'll see your server list.

  2. Use the Priority column to assign lower numbers to higher-priority servers.

  1. Newsbin will attempt connections in order, starting with the lowest number.

Tip: If using multiple Usenet providers, prioritize Newshosting first for access to full article retention and completion.
