NZBGet Chromebook Setup Guide for Newshosting Users

This guide walks through setting up NZBGet on a Chromebook using Newshosting. With full support for secure connections and automation tools, NZBGet is a fast and efficient Usenet client compatible with ChromeOS through Linux.

Step 1: Enable Linux (Beta) on Chromebook

  1. Open Chromebook Settings.

  2. Scroll to "Developers" and turn on Linux (Beta).

  3. Allocate disk space and install the Linux container.

Step 2: Install NZBGet

  1. Open the Linux Terminal.

  2. Run the following commands:

    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install nzbget

Step 3: Launch NZBGet

  • In the terminal, type nzbget -D to start the service.

  • Access the NZBGet Web interface at: http://localhost:6789

Step 4: Configure NZBGet for Newshosting

  1. In the Web interface, go to Settings > News-Servers.

  2. Input your Newshosting server address, username, and password.

  3. Enable SSL (Port 563).

  4. Set the maximum number of connections to match your Newshosting plan.

  5. Save and restart NZBGet.
